These terms govern your use of Seen (“the service”), operated by Giacomo Cerquone (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use Seen.
The service
Seen is a private tool for tracking films and TV shows you’ve watched, adding reactions and notes, and asking an AI assistant for suggestions based on your taste. There is no social feed, no public profile, and no advertising.
Seen is in active development. Features change, break, and come back. We may add, change, or remove functionality without notice. During early access, some features may be limited or rolled out gradually.
Your account
You must provide accurate information when you sign up and keep your password secure. You’re responsible for everything that happens under your account.
One person, one account. Don’t share credentials or create accounts on behalf of others without permission.
You must be at least 16 years old, or have verifiable parental consent, to use Seen.
Acceptable use
Use Seen lawfully and in good faith. In particular, don’t:
- attempt to access other users’ data or our systems without authorisation;
- scrape, bulk-download, or reverse-engineer the service;
- upload malware or use the service to distribute spam;
- use automated tools to hammer our API;
- put illegal content in your notes or chat messages.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service or harm other users or our infrastructure.
Your content
You keep ownership of the notes, reactions, and other content you add to Seen. By storing it with us you grant us a limited licence to host, back up, and process it so the service works — including sending parts of it to AI providers when you use chat.
We don’t claim ownership of your catalog and we don’t display it to anyone else.
AI suggestions
Chat answers are generated by third-party language models. They can be wrong, out of date, or miss the point. They’re suggestions, not professional advice. Always verify availability, ratings, and content warnings yourself before watching.
The assistant can read parts of your catalog and taste profile to answer you, and may use web search when suggesting titles. It can propose changes to your catalog (e.g. marking a title watched), but nothing is written until you confirm the proposal in the app.
We don’t guarantee that suggestions will match your taste or that the AI will understand every request.
Chat usage limits
Chat is rate-limited to 12 messages per 24 hours per account (the limit refills gradually over the day). This keeps AI costs sustainable while the product is in early development. We may adjust the limit as the service matures.
Third-party data and trademarks
Movie and TV metadata (posters, titles, cast, etc.) comes from third-party databases including TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Title names, images, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. It’s part of these terms.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep Seen running, but we don’t promise uninterrupted or error-free service. Maintenance, deploys, and outages happen — especially while the product is young.
We may change these terms. When we do, we’ll update the date at the top. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms. For material changes we’ll make a reasonable effort to tell you (e.g. email or an in-app notice).
Termination
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deletion is immediate — your catalog, active chat history, and taste profile are removed from our live database right away. Archived conversations waiting for the nightly sweep are removed too. We may shut down your account if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the service. If we wind Seen down entirely, we’ll give reasonable notice and a chance to export what we can.
Disclaimer
Seen is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of metadata, or reliability of AI output. You use it at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of Seen. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, during free early access, is zero.
Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited under applicable law (e.g. fraud, gross negligence, or mandatory consumer rights).
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Italy. Disputes that can’t be resolved informally fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of Italy, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
